1. Dates & Location

  • Six Wednesdays in September & October 9/18, 9/25, 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23.

  • Location: Growth Chess Center 974 W Main Street Sun Prairie, WI 53590

 

2. Tournament Format:

  • Tournament Format: Individual Swiss

  • Total Rounds: 6 (1 round each Wednesday night)

  • Round Times: Wednesdays at 6:30PM

  • Time Control: G/75+5  (Game in 75 minutes with 5-second increment on each move.)

  • 2 Sections: U1200 & Open

 

3. Byes

  • Byes are available for players in any rounds in case they can't participate that evening, but would like to stay in the tournament.

  • A maximum of two half-point byes can be requested in this tournament.

  • Round 1-4 byes must be requested prior to the pairing of the round. Pairings usually are posted shortly after noon on Tuesday, the day before the round.

  • Round 5-6 byes must be requested before start of Round 3. Round 6 bye is irrevocable to prevent possible prize-fund manipulations.

  • Late registrations will receive a half-point bye for any missed round, up to a total of two rounds.

 

4. Prizes -- $1200 based on 40 paid entries. Prizes will increase proportionally after 40 entries.

  • Open 1st place $325, 2nd place $225, 3rd place $175, Top U1600 $100

  • U1200 1st place $175, 2nd place $125, 3rd place $75

  • Biggest Upset $50 guaranteed

 

5. Prize Fund --  $1200 based on 40 paid entries

  • Please allow a week for processing prize checks.

  • Per IRS rules anyone with a cumulative $600+ prizes in any calendar year will need to fill out a W9 and Growth Chess will be providing a 1099 form.

  • Max Capacity: 60

 

6. Registration for Both Sections -- Including Single Game Option!

  • $60 by 9/15

  • $70 by after 9/15

  • Single Round Option available for any round $15

  • Free Entry for NMs & Higher, email info@growthchess.com to register. Early Entry Fee will be deducted from any winnings.
