KID'S CLUB

Kids of any level can meet fellow chess players, learn from Growth Chess Coaches, and put their skills into practice with a weekly US Chess-rated game.

Thursdays | 5:00–7:00 PM
Free Class: September 24
October Session: October 1–29

A typical Kid's Club includes:

Warm-ups designed by Growth Chess Coaches
30-minute group lesson tailored to the players attending
Pizza dinner provided weekly
Weekly G/25 d5 tournament-style US Chess-rated game
Game analysis with Growth Chess Coaches

US Chess membership is required to participate in the rated games.

BEGINNER PRIVATE LESSONS

For students who are brand new to chess or still working to master the fundamentals, our beginner private lessons provide more individualized instruction before moving into our intermediate group classes.

4 Private Beginner Lessons | $100

Lessons are scheduled individually with a Growth Chess Coach at the Growth Chess Center.

Typical instruction may include:

The basic rules of chess
Piece movement and capturing
Check and checkmate
Basic King & Queen and King & Rook checkmates
Fun mini-games designed to reinforce chess concepts
Basic tactics
Opening principles
How to confidently play a complete chess game

KNIGHTS & BISHOPS

Our intermediate level is designed for players who have mastered the fundamentals and are ready to take the next step in their chess development.

Players typically have a ChessKid rating up to approximately 1500 or a Chess.com rating up to approximately 1200, although ratings are only a guideline.

Typical instruction includes:

1–2 move tactics including pins, forks, skewers, and more
Calculation and tactical awareness
Intermediate endgames
Opening principles and basic opening theory
Positional and strategic concepts
Analysis of master and student games

IN-PERSON KNIGHTS & BISHOPS

Mondays | 5:00–6:00 PM
Free Class: September 21
Paid Classes: September 28–December 14

ONLINE KNIGHTS & BISHOPS

Sundays | 7:00–8:00 PM
September Classes: September 13 & 20
Free Class: September 27
Fall Session: September 13–December 13
No Class: November 29

TOURNAMENT TEAM

Tournament Team is a focused training group for dedicated scholastic players who are actively competing — or ready to begin competing — and want to sharpen their skills in a structured, supportive environment.

Sundays | 5:00–7:00 PM
Free Class: September 27

Weekly training includes:

Multi-step tactics and calculation
Master game analysis
Advanced endgames
Opening and tournament preparation
Analysis of students' tournament games
Practical tournament strategy and decision-making

Players are expected to compete in at least one tournament per month so they can put their training into practice and bring their tournament experiences back to the group.

Tournament Team Membership Includes:

Weekly two-hour training sessions
One FREE Growth Chess Scholastic Tournament entry per month OR
50% off one Growth Chess Open tournament per month

Registration Options:

October: October 4–25
Fall: October 4–December 13
Full School Year: September 27, 2026–May 23, 2027

Tournament Team does not meet on select Sundays due to major tournaments and holiday weekends.
