Summer Camps
Our Camps
Camps will include instruction by coaches, chess puzzles, tournaments, and socializing with like minded students. Campers will receive a camp shirt and awards from our Friday tournament.
Full Day Camp hours are between 8:30am-5:00pm with early drop off & late pick up options for an additional fee.
Growth Chess Summer Camps will be held at Growth Chess 974 West Main Street Sun Prairie, WI 53590.
Sample Camp Schedule
Morning Schedule: 8:30am - 12:30pm (afternoons follow a similar template)
8:00 - 8:30 : Early-Drop options available for additional fee.
8:30 - 9:30 : Arrival + Casual Free-play Games, Warm-ups.
9:30 - 10:25 : Group Instruction.
10:25 - 10:45 : Recess / Snacks.
10:45 - 11:40 : Organized Games, Puzzles, Analysis at Coach discretion.
11:40 - 12:10 : Group Instruction/Demonstrations.
12:10 - 12:40 : Free-Play Puzzles and Gaming until Pick-up
12:40 - 1:00 : Lunch Break / Outside time.
Tuition
Pawn - Bishop Half Week (AM or PM) - $200
Pawn - Bishop Full Week - $300
Rook - Full Week - $400

Pawn
Beginner level aimed at those just starting out in chess or those looking to master the basics.
Camps run as half-day sessions for an entire week with a discount for both morning and afternoon attendance

Fun Mini Chess Games to help your child learn the pieces in a fun way!

Opening Principles
Knight & Bishop
Intermediate level aimed at those looking to improve their skills from beginner and beyond. Players must have established understanding of the basics (including everything listed in the Pawn camp) and typically have a ChessKid rating up to 1500 or up or a Chess.com rating up to 1200
Camps run as full-day sessions for an entire week
Typical instruction includes:

1-2 Move Tactics (How to use pins, forks, skewers & more to win material)

Intermediate Endgames such as King & Pawn Endgames, Rook vs Pawns, and More!

Basic Opening Theory for Openings like the Italian & Ruy Lopez.

Game Analysis from the Chess Masters Games.
Rook
Advanced level for the true dedicated players looking to level up their game and improve upon tournament or competitive performance. Players must have established understanding of the content from Pawn and Knight/Bishop and typically have a USCF 700+ or Chess.com rating of 1200+ as well as some tournament experience.
Camps run as full-day sessions for an entire week and run only at certain weeks during the summer
