What Are Growth Chess Camps?
Growth Chess Camps are engaging, skill-building programs designed to introduce children to the game of chess in a fun, supportive, and educational environment. No prior chess experience is required. Camps are thoughtfully structured to support beginners while still challenging more experienced players.
Through interactive lessons, guided play, and age-appropriate competition, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, focus, and confidence — all while having fun and making new friends.
Camp Location
All in-person camps are held at the Growth Chess Center, located at 4506 Regent Street in Madison, Wisconsin.
Camp Options & Schedule
Growth Chess offers both half-day and full-day in-person camps.
Full-day camps run from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Half-day morning sessions run from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Half-day afternoon sessions run from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Typical Daily Schedule
Camp days are structured to balance instruction, play, and breaks.
Early drop-off runs from 8:00 to 8:30 AM.
Campers arrive and play casual games from 8:30 to 9:30 AM.
Group instruction takes place from 9:30 to 10:25 AM.
Snack break and recess follow from 10:25 to 10:45 AM.
Organized games and puzzles run from 10:45 to 11:40 AM.
Demonstrations and strategy sessions take place from 11:40 to 12:10 PM.
Free play and pick-up occur from 12:10 to 12:40 PM.
For full-day campers, lunch is scheduled from 12:40 to 1:00 PM, with afternoon sessions following a similar structure to the morning.
What Campers Will Do
Campers learn and reinforce chess fundamentals, including how the pieces move and core strategic concepts. They solve chess puzzles to strengthen logical thinking, play guided games in a positive and supportive environment, and participate in mini-tournaments and team activities. Camps also emphasize sportsmanship, focus, and social interaction as students connect with peers who share similar interests.
Camp Dates
Growth Chess Camps run weekly from June 10 through August 28, 2026.
Each camp week offers half-day morning, half-day afternoon, and full-day options. Single-day and modified options may be available by request. Families interested in these options should contact info@growthchess.com.
Pricing
Half-day camps start at $225 per week.
Full-day camps start at $350 per week.

Who Can Attend?
Camps are open to children of all skill levels. Whether a child is brand new to chess or already playing competitively, instruction is adapted to meet each camper where they are and help them grow.
